The Western Sandpiper is a shorebird characterized by its black legs, rufous tinges on its head and back and long black bill which droops slightly at the tip. It gets is name because it nests on the shores and tundra of Alaska. The Western Sandpiper is spotted in many places across western North America during migration. It winters along the coasts throughout North America.
