At-A-Glance Guide to Poisonous Plants
|
To defend themselves against predators some plants have prickles or thorns. Others, however, produce various chemicals in order to discourage herbivores from devouring them. In some cases a plant may produce tasty fruit, but have unpleasant chemicals other parts of its structure. Sometimes the plant's name is a hint - such as Death Camas or Chrysothamnus naseous, but not always. So, pretty as these plants may be, if you're looking for something to add to your salad, you might want to think twice!
