Lapposyrphus lapponicus (no common name) is a striking Hover Fly. Sometimes mistaken for bees or wasps, Hover Flies are harmless and important pollinators. Sometimes called Flower Flies, they have a habit of hovering in one spot and then suddenly darting around. Hover Flies have clear wings and are found around the world.
