Paper Wasp, Polistes aurifer
The Paper Wasp is brownish in colour and long-legged. It uses saliva which is mixed with dead plant material or wood to construct fascinating nests which have open combs in which the young are reared. New colonies are founded in the spring. The Paper Wasp feeds on nectar, flies and larvae.
