Sericomyia militaris

Sericomyia militaris is a Hover Fly, sometimes also called Flower Fly, with no specific common name. There are over 6000 species of Hover Flies found all over the world (except chilly Antarctica). Many resemble bees or wasps, but they they do not sting. As you might expect, Hover Flies spend their time hovering at flowers where they feed on the nectar and help in pollination.
