Hawaiian Duck
Hawaiian Duck, Anas wyvilliana
The Hawaiian Duck is an endangered bird of beautiful Hawaii. It is somewhat similar in appearance to the female Mallard. Males have an olive-green bill while the female's is a dull orange. Both sexes are mottled brown in colour with orange feet and legs. It is a very shy and wary bird and sadly its range has been sharply reduced due to habitat loss and the introduction of predators. The native Hawaiian name is koloa maoli.
