Golden-crowned Sparrow, Zonotrichia atricapilla
The Golden-crowned Sparrow finds itself at home in western North America, often in high elevations. It's most obvious identifying feature is the yellow crown on its black head. This isn't so prominent in young and non-breeding birds.
