The American Goldfinch is a pretty and delightful songbird found across the United States and southern Canada. It feeds primarily on seeds like thistle or dandelion and other plants. It will often visit feeders for sunflower and other seeds.

In the summer during mating season, the male (right) becomes a bright lemon-yellow colour.
