Cedar Waxwing, Bombycilla cedrorum
Cedar Waxwing, Bombycilla cedrorum
With its characteristic crest and black mask, the Cedar Waxwing is a beautiful bird to spot. This is a medium-sized bird and is mostly shades of brown, yellow and gray with a very-noticeable bright yellow-tipped tail. The Cedar Waxwing is very similar to the Bohemian Waxwing, but is smaller in size and has some white under the tail. Waxwings get their names from a red substance that is secreted from the tips of their secondary wing feathers.
