Twinflower, Linnaea borealis
Twinflower, Linnaea borealis
The Twinflower was a favourite of Swedish Botanist Carl Linnaeus who developed the scientific system of classifying plants and animals that we use today.

Preferring cool temperate forests, you'll find Twinflowers in the northern regions of the world. In Europe they extend down to the Alps; in Asia to northern Japan and in North America to Northern California in the west and Tennessee in the east.

Its pinkish-white funnel-shaped flowers hang in pairs (like twins) from the top of a Y-shaped stem. The Twinflower is the provincial flower of Linnaeus' home province Smaland, Sweden.
