Great Mullein, Verbascum thapsus
Originally from Europe, the Great Mullein was introduced into North America and is now found in temperate zones across the continent. Its yellow flowers grow in a long, dense, spike formation. The plant grows up to 6 ft/2 m tall in exposed places like roadsides and fields. It is sometimes called Common Mullein or Wooly Mullein, a reference to its soft, felt-like leaves.
