Preferring cool temperate forests, you'll find Twinflowers in the northern regions of the world. In Europe they extend down to the Alps; in Asia to northern Japan and in North America to Northern California in the west and Tennessee in the east.

Its pinkish-white funnel-shaped flowers hang in pairs (like twins) from the top of a Y-shaped stem.

The Twinflower is the provincial flower of Linnaeus' home province Smaland, Sweden.
