Common Evening-primrose, Oenothera biennis
Common Evening-primrose, Oenothera biennis
The Common Evening-primrose is found across North America, from Alberta, east to Newfoundland, down to Florida and west to Texas. Its bright yellow flowers have 4 petals and bloom from late spring until late summer. An interesting characteristic of this plant is that the flowers close during the day and open quickly in the evening and last only until noon of the following day.
