Green Bottle Fly, Lucilia sericata
The Green Bottle Fly is a member of the family Calliphoridae, often called "blow-flies" which are found around the world. They are characterized by their metallic coloured bodies. Females require protein for their eggs to develop, so they are often a problem around human food. Some breed courtesy of carrion. Sometimes, blow-flies have been helpful in forensic investigations.
