Pacific Cuckoo Wasp, Chrysis pacifica
The Pacific, or Large Blue Cuckoo Wasp, is an attractive insect with its metallic shimmering colours of green and blue. A solitary wasp, it gets its name from the fact that the females lays her eggs in the nest of other wasps and bees, like a cuckoo lays its eggs in the nest of other birds.
