Multicoloured Asian Ladybug Beetle, Harmonia axyridis
Multicoloured Asian Ladybug Beetle, Harmonia axyridis
This species was introduced to North America to control aphids and is now also spreading throughout Europe. It is sometimes called the Halloween lady beetle as it often seeks shelter from colder weather in the autumn by sneaking into homes.
Asian Ladybugs come in a variety of colours and spot patterns ranging from yellow-orange to bright red-orange; with or without spots.

The "W" arrangement on the face, seen clearly in this image, helps identify it from other ladybird species.

On the right is a picture of the larvae.
