With its graceful pair of lace-like wings, the Green Lacewing receives the honour of being this month's bug of the month. Measuring only about .5 in/10 mm it is indeed a very small insect and so is often not noticed, despite being very common.
Like ladybugs and hover flies, they are considered to be "friends of the gardener" as they love to munch down aphids. However, if you happen to encounter one, beware of its smell. |
