Not too far from the lights and action of Las Vegas is a natural place
of colourful beauty and tranquility: Valley of Fire State Park.
|
This is the oldest and largest of Nevada's state parks. It gets its name from the stunning red sandstone rocks, dunes and formations that have been created through time by the eroding powers of wind and water. When the Mojave Desert sun hits the rocks it appears that they are set on fire.
|
Exploring the park you'll come across columns, arches, balanced rocks and other surprising formations.
This is a photographer's desert paradise!

Valley of Fire can be scorching hot in the summer time and chilly in the winter, so the best time to visit is the spring or fall.
If you're lucky enough to visit in the springtime be sure to watch out for colourful desert wildflowers that bloom and add another delightful aspect to this wonderful special place in nature.
