High in the Olympic Mountains in the northeastern corner of Olympic National Park, in northwest Washington is a special place called Hurricane Ridge. Despite its rather threatening name, this spectacular place is a nature-lover's delight. Here, at elevations of over 5,000 ft/1,524 m the views are breath-taking.

Although the weather is unpredictable, a visit with some fine summer weather is rewarding with colourful alpine flowers everywhere, butterflies dancing in the sunshine and mesmerizing views.
Here the skies are wide and the sense of openness is thrilling.
