The United States is lucky to have an extensive system of wildlife refuge areas. These areas provide habitats for hundreds of species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish.

National Wildflife Refuge Week honours and celebrates
this system everyyear during the second week of October. In 2016 that's October 9-15.
