The migration of birds is one of the greatest and most mysterious events on the planet. Each year, millions and millions of birds, from tiny hummingbirds to mighty eagles travel thousands of kilometers from their winter homes to their summer breeding ground. Then in the autumn they do the return trip!
International Migratory Bird Day is celebrated every year on the second weekend in May. This is a great time to take action and promote awareness about the need to protect migratory birds and their habitats
The day is celebrated through festivals, bird walks and education programs.
