Snake's Head, Fritillaria meleagris
Snake's Head, Fritillaria meleagris
Snake's Head has a checkered reddish-brown and purplish colour with blotches of white.  It has a very distinctive bell-shaped flower which, from some angles, looks a bit like a snake's head.  It grows up to 40 cm high and enjoys growing in grasslands. It can be found in altitudes up to 800 metres. The small bulbs contain poisonous alkaloids.
