Spear Thistle, Cirsium vulgare
The Spear Thistle is the national flower and symbol of Scotland. It is native to parts of the old world, but is now found throughout North America and is considered an invasive weed by some. Thistles belong to the Aster family of flowers and are characterized by their prickly leaves.
